Seniors Visit University and Museum for Holocaust Studies Class

Professor Reicher Shows Students Rare Archival Footage; Travel to Manhattan's Museum of Jewish Heritage to Study Holocaust Exhibit
This year, the seniors have been studying the Holocaust under Mrs. Cheryl Epstein in her spectacular and comprehensive course on the subject.  On Wednesday, May 21, the senior class had the unique opportunity to tour the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York, and to hear from two leading scholars, all as a culminating activity for their course on Holocaust Studies and Modern Israel.  Mrs. Epstein accompanied the students.

At 8:30 a.m., students participated in a breakfast program at Lower Merion Synagogue featuring Chief Rabbi of England and the British Commonwealth, Sir Jonathan Sacks, on "Anti-semitism in Europe: Lessons for America."

Following the breakfast, they traveled to Kean University in Union, New Jersey, for a private meeting with Dr. Moshe Reicher.  Dr. Reicher, formerly counsel for Agudas Yisrael, is on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and is presently a visiting professor at Kean University.  Dr. Reicher discussed legal issues relating to the Holocaust and shared rare archival footage.

Upon leaving Kean, the seniors visited the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Lower Manhattan for an extensive tour of the museum's exhibit on the Holocaust.  The day was full of emotion and learning, and seniors ended the day exhausted, but exhilirated...and ready for their next week of LEEP study.
